More than ten years ago, I hosted a podcast, “The Hallway”, for a brief time.
And I’ve decided to fire it up once again because software is getting weird.
AI is rewriting how teams work. Processes that made sense two years ago are breaking. Org tension is real. And the honest conversations about all of it? They’re not happening at conferences or in polished thought leadership posts.
They’re happening inside real teams – in Slack threads, post-mortems, and hallway conversations between meetings.
That’s what I’m trying to capture.
Every other week, I’ll be talking to engineering leaders who are actually in the trenches. These are the CTOs, VPs, and engineering leaders navigating acquisitions, figuring out what AI actually means for their team, connecting engineering to the business, and making it up as they go (like the rest of us).
You won’t find FAANG playbooks or recycled framework takes here.
Just honest conversations about what’s changing, what’s breaking, and what’s working.
If you lead engineering and you’re tired of advice that sounds nothing like the world you actually live in, this one’s for you.
Follow along. New episodes every other week.
Episode Transcript
If you lead engineering, like software engineering, you already know software is getting weirder by the week. AI is changing how teams work, processes are breaking, org tension is real, and most of the best lessons, they’re not coming from keynote stages or polished LinkedIn posts.
They’re happening inside of real teams and real companies figuring it out as they go. The Hallway Track, is a podcast about real stories from real teams. No recycled FAANG playbooks, just honest conversations with the engineering leaders in the trenches about what’s changing, what’s breaking, and what’s actually working today.
If you’re building teams, navigating complexity, and looking for ideas that sound like the world you actually live in and not something up on a stage somewhere, this show is for you. I hope you follow along. planning on releasing episodes every other week.
I’m Chris Vannoy. Talk later.
